Managing Consultant – Mike Evans Ph.D.
Consultant Profile
Mike is a highly accomplished well respected healthcare executive and interim consultant with significant UK and International health & social care sector experience. His breadth of knowledge and experience extends across the hospital, health insurance, emergency services, medical devices, health technology sectors (including mHealth) and intellectual disabilities and mental health services.
Mike’s Journey
With a PhD in Biochemistry, Mike began his career in Pharma R&D. He quickly moved into commercial roles at Smith Industries and then BUPA Hospitals. Whilst at BUPA Hospitals he developed and significantly grew their international ‘travel-for-treatment service’.
Mike then took the challenge of transforming an historic mutual health insurer into a new business he rebranded Simplyhealth and merged with a major cashplan provider. After which he went to AXA Assistance International where he developed new health care strategies including mHealth and corporate health screening to support the AXA global health insurance market.
Onward at Bausch + Lomb Mike led the transformation of their UK & Ireland Vision Care division refocussing the business on quality and added value.
Following which he held commercial and operational Board roles with Ramsay Health Care UK, London Ambulance Service NHS Trust and the charity Mytime Active.
Mike has in-depth regulatory knowledge, serving in CQC registered manager and nominated individual (NI) roles. He has managed an independent hospital with Nuffield Health, where he set strategic direction and redesigned key operating processes using lean principals.
Mike has worked in the mental health & intellectual disabilities sector, serving as a COO and Operations Director. These roles entailed crisis management and portfolio quality improvement briefs. Mike’s international experience includes working in the Middle East as a Turnaround Consultant for a CAMHS & Adult Mental Health Services clinic. He has also led projects in Europe, North Africa and Asia.
